I like to think of myself as a visual artist, documenting the world as I see it through my lens. I am a 3rd generation photographer not because my parents or even my grandparents where professional photographers, but because they used a camera to document their lives and mine. Photographing is only part of my final process, I love incorporating fine art techniques into my printed work, as a photographer it allows me to give my clients something unique.
I love my photography but I am passionate about teaching. Though I have been involved in corporate training for the last 25 years, teaching photography to people that are enthusiastic and interested is truly rewarding for me. As far as my photography goes, my primary interest in in conceptual art photography. My commercial photography covers a wide range, mainly with in the area of corporate publicity and portraits, though I also do architecture, product shots and product launches.
I believe that I learn the most from my students. Teaching photography is the best job in the world and the interplay between teaching and learning as a collaborative process, rather than a “do it this way” instruction is the place where I feel at home. After 15 years of teaching there is always something new to learn. As long as you make magic in the end, the varied routes that take you there is what makes photography captivating and addictive. If you’re not enjoying it, you’re probably doing it wrong.
Nothing excites me more than being inspired by new creative ideas. And that is probably why I am still in love with photography. As a creative outlet it is one of the few mediums which allows me to share ideas, concepts and opinions. Whether it is simply to capture what is beautiful about life or to portray the world in a creative manner, I believe that there is a place for everyone within photography
Photographer. View Finder. Researcher. Collector of life stories. Ek mik N druk soos wat ek asem. Each persons life - each life, represents a worthy world. Wabi sabi.
As someone who has always been creative, I found photography to be the best artistic outlet. Always testing ones technical ability as well as creative passion, photography really pushes the boundaries. I enjoy all genres of photography, but really get a kick by trying something new. From teaching Fundamentals to the more advanced courses, I always try to help every student reach his or her potential.
For most, photography is just a form of art. To me, it is a way of documenting emotions, opportunity and creativity. I strive to learn more, and practice new techniques within my own style. Photography has opened many doors and rare opportunities in my life. Being part of the CODP family allows me to share my knowledge and passion with my students. It's absolutely wonderful and inspiring to be interacting with so many people filled with enthusiasm and love for photography.
I have always been into art. Since I can remember, I have been drawing or painting or doing something creative with my hands. Art at school was always my interest. Subjects like business or accounting didn't get a second glance from me.
As a kid I loved nothing more than exploring in nature, turning over every rock and branch, swimming in streams and fishing until the sun went down. Photography has continued to allow me to explore the world with the curiosity of the child! In my spare time I'm an avid studio, wildlife, nature and landscape photographer. I love photographing people, probably because I love people. For me it´s all about trying to capture the essence of their personality, the clothes or whatever reason I have for taking that particular photograph in one or a few frames, using whatever means possible. Also, every idea I get includes a person or people... who am I to argue?
I am a freelance photographer who specialises in architecture, food and commercial photography. In my spare time I love teaching at CODP and get great enjoyment from helping people grow as photographers and explore their more creative side.
