Adobe details OS support for next version of Lightroom
In a new blog post, Adobe has said Lightroom 6 will require a 64-bit operating system, meaning it will only run in 64-bit versions of Windows 7, or OS X 10.8 or newer. The announcement suggests Lightroom 6 will continue as a standalone application, rather than being swallowed into the company’s subscription-only Creative Cloud program.
The reason behind this, Adobe states, is that focusing on the latest OS versions will help the company add imaging features and improve performance. Adobe has also stated that it is working closely with Microsoft and its pre-release version of Windows 10. Jeffery Tranberry, also of Adobe, commented that compatibility details are usually announced the same day a new OS is released – good news for Windows fans.
