OCTOBER 2015 IMAGINATION NETWORK MEETING
For the October Imagination Network meeting, the Saxonwold and Pretoria campuses will be doing a fun Instawalk. Basically, an Instawalk is when a group of people get together to explore a place, while documenting their experience with photos, using Instagram (a smartphone app). Everyone sees the world in a different way, and snapping a photo of something you like is a simple but effective way of sharing what you value about the world around you. One of the great things about Instagram is the ability to tag your photos, and when everyone in the group uses the same tag, it creates a montage of photos that represent the collective experience.
The Fourways campus will be hosting world renowned photojournalist, Marco Longari – 2012’s Best Photographer on the Wires as chosen by TIME.
The upcoming dates for each campus are as below as well as more detailed information for each campus. Please note the dates may change for each campus, depending on the suitability of the Instawalk venue:
FOURWAYS: Tue 13 October 18h30 – 21h30

FOURWAYS CAMPUS – MARCO LONGARI
Time acknowledged the distinctive and very powerful work of Agency-France Presse chief photographer Marco Longari, TIME’s pick of the best photographer for 2012. CODP Fourways is extremely proud and honored to have the opportunity of hosting Marco Longari at our Imagination Network meeting on the 13th October 2015 at our Fourways Pineslopes Boulevard campus. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet this award winning world recognized Photojournalist in person and hear his side of the story behind each of the most powerful, hard hitting, truthful and edgy images seen over the last few years.
PRETORIA CAMPUS – PRETORIA CBD INSTAWALK
We have decided that it is long overdue that we embark on a photo walk on Sun 1 Nov 2015 starting at 06h00. To take part in this unique event you require a cell phone or compact digital. To make things interesting we will visit parts of the city that we hardly get to see. Starting at the Southern Sun PTA CBD we will proceed to church square via church street and back again to the hotel via Pretorius street. It should take us round about two and a half hours. Please make sure that you keep your valuables to a minimum and carry water. Please note that there are no toilets on the way so sure you go before.
SAXONWOLD CAMPUS – SANDTON CBD INSTAWALK
Sandton is hosting the EcoMobility Festival for the whole month of October. Certain parts of Sandton have been restricted to cars – allowing only pedestrians to enter the CBD. This gives us a great opportunity to walk around Sandton and experience the architecture and street vibe of Sandton.
The Saxonwold members will be meeting at Sandton City at 18h00 on Mon 26th October. To take part in this unique event you require a cell phone or compact digital camera. If you don’t mind the weight you’re welcome to use your SLR or Mirrorless camera as well.
We will be meeting at the iconic Nelson Mandela Statue in Nelson Mandela Square and will walk through the streets of Sandton.
Starting at 18h00, the instawalk will be about 2 ½ hours. Please make sure that you keep your valuables to a minimum and carry water.
We will be using the following hashtag: #codpinstawalk #ecomobilityfestival #sandton
