ART WORKSHOPS: R680 – R880

A variety of painting and drawing workshops are held on continuous basis. Each month a different medium and technique are presented. Workshops will focus on a particular medium and the effects that can be created with those mediums. The workshops will provide a way for a new or established artist to try a different medium or to learn something new. All materials will be provided at each workshop. Workshops will vary between 3-4 hours depending on the technique learnt and may also vary between 1 or 2 sessions.

Bob Ross inspired many people to pick up a brush and try painting. His beloved TV series and big afro has become a cult icon – and he continues to inspire people to paint. His belief that anyone can learn to paint through his popular wet on wet techniques has made painting approachable by all the levels of artists. Once you have learnt about this techniques it can be applied in a variety of ways.
In this workshop, you will learn how to make and use Bob’s famous liquid white paint. And how to use his technique to create your own landscapes – from sky’s, mountains, trees, water and snow. A small selection of brushes and a simple palette can provide a variety of effects.
All materials are supplied – canvas, paints, brushes and additional utensils.

A loose medium that provides an artist with bright vibrant colours. You can create soft ethereal patterns or highly detailed subjects. In the workshop, we will work with applying the medium on paper, but it can be techniques can be transferred to a variety of other mediums.
All materials are supplied – paper, inks, brushes and additional utensils.

Acrylic Liquid Pouring Workshop
Date: Sun, 10 February 2019 – Saxonwold campus
Sun, 14 April 2019 – Fourways campus
A creative and free way to express yourself without brushes. This technique relies on the paint recipe and pouring method to create abstract images. No brushes, no straight lines, no set method. A beautiful artwork is guaranteed each time – and with different results with every canvas.
The recipes and various techniques will be covered in the workshop. Canvas’s (x 2) will be provided for you to experiment different methods.
Medium: Acrylics on canvas
This workshop includes the following:
- Acrylic paints and pouring mediums
- Specialised additives for the techniques
- 2 X Canvas’s – for you to try different applications
- Fully prepared work area for the techniques
- Printed notes – to reference back to
Open to all levels of experience – beginners, dabblers and advanced creative people.
