Have you ever looked at a menu in a restaurant and didn’t know what to order, but chose a dish based on a photo in the menu. Or have you looked at the cover of a food magazine and instantly had a craving for the food? This workshop will help you achieve that emotion with your images.
The workshop will start with a presentation explaining some technical aspects of food photography. Composition, equipment, lighting and basic styling will be discussed.
It is aimed at the enthusiast who would like to take the next step towards Food Photography in the commercial world.
A variety of dishes from starters through to deserts from their menu will be provided to photograph. A set of stations will be set up allowing each participant to photograph the various dishes. With guidance from the instructor, you will be able to experiment with the techniques discussed on getting the best shot for the food provided.
To complete the workshop you will be shown some basic editing techniques to improve the image even further.
- A DSLR or Mirrorless camera
- A sturdy tripod
- A cable release or remote (not imperative as your self timer can be used)
- A Macro Lens (if you don’t have a Macro lens a normal telephoto lens will suffice)
- A External Flash – but not essential
The ability to shoot in Manual Mode comfortably. It is a requirement to have completed the Fundamentals of Photography course before enrolling for this workshop.
Due to the nature of the workshop, numbers will be limited. Due to the special preparation of the workshop, a minimum number of bookings are required for this workshop to take place.
